Abstract
Al-Marai Al-Nabawiyah are a kind of dreaming visions that refers to seeing the Prophet Mohamed (Peace be upon him) in a dream during sleep.
Such visions have been subject to religious prophet- praise in the Algerian folk poetry in order to express the heartfelt love andthe impatience to see him and be close to him. Hence, poets mentioned its aspirations, considered it to be one of the highest goals any poet is out to seek. In addition, they narrated and described what they have witnessed through its bounty and mystery.
However, this topic was under-researched in the field of Algerian folk poetry and this is why we sought to scrutinize the presence of such a phenomenon in folk poetry and to study it closely.
Therefore, the hermeneutic approach was adopted to discuss its main issues, interpret its symbols, and analyse the aesthetics of the artistic and linguistic phenomena that enrich its texts. The current study consists of an introduction and four main chapters, and ends with a general conclusion.
The first chapter was devoted to defining the main concepts such as visions, dreams, Al-Marai Al-Nabawiyah and hermeneutics. It also investigates the history of Al-Marai Al-Nabawiyah as a subject of prophet-praise poetry.
The second chapter illustrated some textual models and extracts of visions in the Algerian folk poetry, in general, and then specified Al-Marai Al-Nabawiyah and their interpretations in a larger scale of the study.
In the third chapter, some interpretations of the artistic and linguistic phenomena of Al-Marai Al-Nabawiyah’s poetry were tackled form different perspectives; their intertextuality, paratext, narration, hysteron-prosteron and repetition.
Finally, the fourth chapter was devoted to a comprehensive analytical and hermeneutical reading of a given folk poem that includes the narration of Al-Marai Al-Nabawiyah, from the aforementioned prescriptive.
