Abstract
This work aims to study the phyto-chemical and anti-oxydants properties and to identify some components of the extract of the plant Arta Calligonum comosum L'Her. from El-Oued region, during the stage of vegetative growth, flowering and fruit set and ripening, from four stations, namely (Taghzout -Guemar- Hassani abdelkarim - El-Oued) of the wilaya of El-Oued, Algeria.
Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of flavonoids, reducing compounds, catechic tannins, anthocyanins, saponosides, sterols and triterpenes, and the absence of alkaloids and gallic tannins.
Extraction results showed a slight difference in yield between sites and growth stages. The yield percentage ranged from 13-14%.
Quantitative analysis shows best results of (4.33±0.2 mg EGA / g Ext) for polyphenols, (1,41 ± 0,02 mg EQu / g Ext) for flavonoids, and (240±6.3µg EGA/g Ext) for tannins, which are recorded in the Taghzout station, while in the Hassani abdelkarim station the polyphenols are (1,41 ± 0,02 mg EGA/g Ext), the flavonoids (1.39±0.01EQu/g Ext) and the tannins (221.5±7.4µg EGA/g Ext) at fruit set and ripening stage. With regard to the anti-oxidation tests, the optimal results are as follows: DPPH (IC50 = 44 ± 4,4 µg / ml), CAT (7.7±0.35mgEGA/g Ext.), FRAP (A0.5=29.3±2µg/ml), Hemolysis (36.20±2.98%) these results are also recorded in the Taghzout station, while in the Hassani abdelkarim station and in the same flowering stage the results are as follows: DPPH (IC50=75±6.2µg/ml), CAT(9.1±0.39mgEGA/g Ext.), FRAP (A0.5=28.01±2.1µg/ml), Hemolysis (46.12±2.98%), these are very good results compared to those of Guemar and El-Oued stations and its efficiency has sometimes reached the ascorbic acid Vit C in the value of IC50, especially and remarkably at the stages of flowering and fruit set and ripening.
The study of the antibacterial activity of plant extracts from Taghzout - Hassani AbdelKarim - Guemar stations showed a very high efficiency at fruit set and ripening stage, especially in the following strains: Escherichia coli - Pseudomonas aeruginosa - Listeria innocua.
As for IR spectroscopy in all extracts, there are hydroxyl (OH) and carbonyl (C = O) groups and double bonds (C = C), which show the high efficiency of El- Arta plant extracts as antioxydants and the diversity of plant extracts with different biological derivatives.
Chromatographic analysis by HPLC shows the presence of a diversity of phenolic acids and flavonoids from one stage to another and from one station to another. The presence of the following phenolic acids was identified at these concentrations: (Gallic acid = 3.333µg/mg Ext)-(Caffeic acid =0.221µg/mg Ext)-(Vanillique acid= 0.163µg/mg Ext), and flavonoids such as (Rutin=5.008 µg /mg Ext. )-(Narginine=21.130 µg/mg Ext.) in the Taghzout station, in the fruit set and ripening phase.
