Abstract

This research comes in addition to the comparative studies between the two Western and Arab criticisms, and a fundamental structure to the contemporary Arab critical lesson. It shows clearly the points of agreement and intersection between Al-Qartajanni and Iser, especially the issues of reception and reading, or to establish the origin of the reception theory statements by Iser through the ancient Arab critical thinking by Al-Qartajanni as a manifestation of modernity in the contemporary Arab intellectual discourse.
In order to clarify these matters, we presented a theoretical entry to the criticism of criticism issues, its problems and the multiplicity of its Arabic translations. We have developed a general framework for this research to mention that it is linked to the research of comparative criticism produced by the American School of the Comparative Literature. We demonstrate the cognitive assets of the theory of reading and reception, its philosophical backgrounds and the establishment of the origin of the critical statements of this theory from these origins.
This study focuses on the statements of reception in the old Arab critical thinking in general and Al-Qartajanni especially through his method. We follow the transformations of the cognitive patterns that organize the reception contract in the old Arab critical thought.
We have also presented a detailed analysis of the methodological statements of the theory of reception by Iser (text and verification: from existence by act to existence by force, textbook, textual strategic, linens, implicit, imaginative and imaginary reader). We compare between the reception set by Al-Qartajanni and some reception theory statements by Iser, we notice an agreement between the two cognitive contexts and a cultural incubator that generated their projects in reading and reception.
