Awareness day about antimicrobial resistance

The central library hall of Mohamed Cherif Messaadia University – Souk Ahras hosted the awareness day on combating antimicrobial resistance this morning, Monday, June 16, 2025, at 09:30, under the supervision of the university director. The event was attended by professors, researchers, and students from various disciplines, as well as doctors from the preventive medicine unit of the university services directorate, who actively contributed to enriching the discussions and providing relevant health guidelines.

The results of the 2025 edition ranking were released, where Souk Ahras University was ranked 1501+ globally out of 2318 universities and fifth nationally (jointly with 46 Algerian universities) out of 53 Algerian universities.

The university has recorded notable progress in the total points obtained, achieving 42.7 points in 2024, and this year managed to obtain 43.5 points.

The ranking is based on 17 criteria of sustainable development, where the university has ranked prominently in several criteria, most notably:

• First place nationally (ranked 601 – 800 globally) in the standard of sustainable cities and local communities
• Third place nationally (401 – 600 globally) in the standard of eradicating hunger and the standard of clean water and sanitation
• Fourth place nationally (601+ globally) in the underwater life criterion
• Fourth place nationally (601 – 800 globally) in the poverty eradication standard
• Fourth place nationally (801+ globally) in the standard of responsible consumption and production
• Fourth place nationally (801 – 1000 globally) in the decent work and economic growth standard, the climate action standard, and the peace, justice, and strong institutions standard
• Fifth place nationally (ranked 1001 – 1500 globally) in the quality of education standard
• Fifth place nationally (801 – 1000 globally) in the standard of clean and affordable energy

On Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the Faculty of Nature and Life Sciences, the process of awarding graduation certificates to second-year master’s students commenced, overseen by the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Maazi Mohamed Cherif, and the Head of the Department of Biological Sciences, Dr. Amamra Sabrina, who presented the certificate to the Mauritanian student Mahmoud Al Sheikh.

We inform the graduating students who encountered the issue of exemption related to university services that they must prepare a detailed report signed by the student and submit it to the pedagogical office to take the necessary actions.

The Faculty of Nature and Life Sciences organized an awareness day Wednesday morning, 25/06/2025, titled “Prevention of Food Poisoning in the Summer Season” under the slogan: “Together for a Safe Summer Without Food Poisoning,” supervised by the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Maazi Mohamed Cherif, and organized by Dr. Khacha Nadjet and Dr. Saoudi Boudjemaa, with the presence and participation of:
Mr. Badr Mokhtar: Representative of the Directorate of Commerce
Ms. Yeften Rokia: Representative of the Municipal Health Office

✨The Dean opened the day’s activities, welcoming the esteemed attendees and appreciating this initiative and the good efforts. The floor was then given to the esteemed guests to present comprehensive talks and explanations to the students about food poisoning, its causes, symptoms, and how to avoid it.
✨The awareness day concluded with the distribution of graduation certificates for third-year students in the Biochemistry and Microbiology specialty.✨

The library of the faculty informs its esteemed teachers that they can borrow books during the summer vacation starting from July 7, 2025.
It is designated only for the teachers of the faculty and doctoral students, where a loan of 04 references is allowed for professors and 03 references for doctoral students to complete their scientific research, and this will continue until the new academic year.
